(Race #5) ALL (Race #6) 3,6 (Race #7) 3,4,11 (Race #8) 3,6,9 (Race #9) 6 = $54.00
Analysis:
Race five kicks off the Pick-5 on Thursday at Fair Grounds and it’s probably best to use all six runners in the race as they are all evenly matched. Be sure to check out South Street in the paddock as the son of Southern Image is quite the looker.
Race six gets a little tougher, but we are going to use two in the race, The Louisiana Kid and M Dication. M Dication will most likely be the heavy post time favorite, but The Louisiana Kid looks good if he runs back to his maiden score in December.
Hopefully we are on the turf for race seven, a maiden claiming race for three-year-old fillies. J Jett ranks on top making her first start since late November at Hawthorne. She actually won at this level two starts back, but was disqualified from the win. She’s Tellin’tales drew post 11 for the race and is also coming off a layoff. The bomber in the race is Reina Plata; trained by Morris Nicks, who wins at 23% with his first-time-turf horses. The 20-1 long shot is out of stakes winning mare by Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos. Bombs away.
The eighth race is a doozy with a full field of Louisiana-breds going six furlongs on the main track. In the A.M. is our top selection thinking that the daughter of Afternoon Deelites is lone speed and can race gate-to-wire. A Town of Attitude is the lukewarm morning line favorite dropping into a claiming race for the first time. Little Lola is the long shot play making her third career start and first since early September. The five-year-old mare obviously has her issues, but has run two decent races that would stack up well against this field.
Our best bet of the day is in the last race as Commander Lee looks to break his maiden in his fourth career start. The three-year-old gelding just finished second at this level going five and one-half furlongs and now cuts back a half furlong for the money run. His five-furlong time in that race is towers over this field and wins if he runs back to that race. The third place finisher, Hesa Hunk, is also in the race on Thursday, but he was four lengths behind the favorite. Let’s hope Commander Lee can lead us to a Black Gold victory.
