The highlight of every National Hunt season in the U.K. is the Cheltenham Festival, a four-day bonanza that will be held this week Tuesday through Friday.

A minimum of three Group 1 races will be held each day of the Festival, with a grand total of 13 awaiting punters from around the world. The undisputed highlights of each Festival are the Champion Hurdle on Tuesday and the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday.

The Champion is contested at about 2 1/16 miles, and among the noted winners of the past was Morley Street, the Ireland-based, U.S. champion steeplechaser of 1990-91 who captured the 1991 edition of the race. On Tuesday, odds-on favorite Buveur D'Air seeks to become the first back-to-back winner of the Champion since Hardy Eustace in 2004-05.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup, a steeplechase of 3 1/4 miles, is a true test of stamina, especially with the soft-to-heavy conditions expected throughout the week. Desert Orchid, Best Mate, and Kauto Star are just a few of the notables to have won over the years. L'Escargot, also Ireland-based when he claimed America's steeplechase title in 1969, went on to capture the 1970 and 1971 editions of the Gold Cup, as well as the 1975 Grand National at age 12.

U.S. racing fans can enjoy all the excitement and pageantry at TwinSpires.com every morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. (EST), and also have the opportunity to earn cash back playing each card of the Festival.

TwinSpires customers that wager $25 per race on four races each day of the Cheltenham Festival will qualify for a cash back bonus. The bonus starts at $7.50 for one day and rises to $60 ($15 bonus each day) when you wager on all four cards. Click here for full details on the offer.
