Get Her Number, who tried dirt for the first time in Saturday's American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita, now has a top-level win and a Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) bid to show for it.
A $45,000 post-sale purchase at OBS Spring this year, Get Her Number is owned by Gary Barber and trained by Peter Miller. Miller has made his name in the Breeders' Cup with older sprinters, but both of his 2-year-old starters last year finished in the money. Billy Batts finished second in the Juvenile Turf (G1) and Wrecking Crew came in third in the Juvenile (G1).
Get Her Number's career highlights
- Won the American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita on Sept. 26, 2020
- Has earned 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby
- Obtained an automatic entry into the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1), also a RTKD prep race
- American Pharoah race results, replay and payouts
Get Her Number showed speed in both of her starts ahead of the American Pharoah.
In his debut Aug. 14, a five-furlong maiden special weight turf dash at Del Mar, he stalked and wore down Commander Khai to win by a half-length. As the favorite in the Del Mar Juvenile Turf on Sept. 7, he set the pace, dug in when confronted, and finished fourth, beaten only a length
Del Mar Juvenile Turf form ruled the American Pharoah. Get Her Number and Flavien Prat stalked longshot Dyn O Mite, overtook him at the three-eighths pole, and held by three-quarters of a length over Rombauer, who finished sixth in the Juvenile Turf.

Get Her Number is 2011 Florida Derby (G1) winner Dialed In's first Grade 1 winner, though he has sired other classy dirt horses, including Grade 2 winner (and multiple Grade 1 placed) Gunnevera, Grade 2 winner Ms Locust Point, and Grade 1-placed Chalon.
Get Her Number is out out of the Bernstein mare Fancier, a winning dirt sprinter. He is the first black-type horse in the closest two generations of his family, though third dam Shy Princess finished second in the Prix Morny (G1), and her descendants include Diadem (G2) winner Diffident and St. James's Palace (G1) winner Zafeen.
Though the classic distance of the Kentucky Derby (G1) might test his stamina, that's also a long way away. For now, Get Her Number is a classy horse with tactical speed and two-turn talent on both dirt and turf.
