'All Others' favored at even-money in KDFW Pool 1

Pool 1 of the 2020 Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) closed Sunday evening with “All Other Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings” holding firm as the even-money favorite. Pegged at 6-5 on Mike Battaglia’s morning line when trade opened Thursday, the “all others” option ranked as the Pool 1 choice for the 22nd straight year.
No individual interest gained enough support to move to single digits. Tiz the Law was the best fancied at 11-1 (bet down from a 20-1 morning line) despite his third at odds-on in Saturday’s Kentucky Jockey Club (G2).
The parity in the division was reflected by the odds on his nearest rivals in the market – Dennis’ Moment closing at 12-1 with Maxfield and Independence Hall at 13-1. While Independence Hall didn’t budge much from his original 12-1, the other joint morning-line favorite, Storm the Court, drifted up to 41-1. Bettors clearly weren’t persuaded by his 45-1 upset of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
The one Kentucky Derby Sire Future Wager ran concurrently, and “All Others” (9-2) beat off a challenge from Constitution (5-1), sire of Tiz the Law and Independence Hall, for favoritism. Next came Curlin at 9-1 and Dennis’ Moment’s sire, Tiznow, at 11-1.
Pool 2 of the KDFW is scheduled for February 7-9. That’s the weekend of the Sam F. Davis (G3) at Tampa Bay Downs. Pool 3 comes a month later, March 6-8, when the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager is offered along with an Oaks/Derby Double Future Wager. The final KDFW Pool 4 runs April 3-5.
