Arlington Trip Notes and Horses to Bet in their next starts (September 18-21)

The following are Trip Notes for horses who had tough trips during closing week at Arlington Park, September 18-21. These horses figure to improve in their next races, no matter if their next races will be across town at the upcoming Hawthorne meet or at Presque Isle Downs or at any other track. Add these runners to your horses to watch list, and bet them back next time out if they land in a reasonable spot.

Racing for the week of August 30-September 2 at Arlington was run under mostly good weather conditions, but the turf was either yielding or off all week long. Racing was off the turf on Wednesday, September 18, and then run on yielding turf on Thursday, September 19; Friday, September 20; and most of Saturday, September 21, until a late rain storm knocked the final grass race of the meet off the turf. Regardless of the weather, both courses played fair.

The horses listed below exit races run at Arlington during the week of September 18-21, and all of them have good chances to run well, outrun their odds, and/or win in their subsequent starts.

Arlington Trip Notes (September 18-21)

A P FIREBALL: Fairmount invader needed a race off a three-month layoff and couldn’t keep pace with a runaway even-money favorite. Try again at Hawthorne in second off the layoff.

CHARLIECANDO: Got beat by a favored Godolphin first starter who’s going places, but was best of the rest in a big field and is knocking on the door and ready to graduate.

CONSTANCIA: Set a fast and pressured pace and held on until deep stretch for second after all the other front runners faded badly in a race overloaded with speed that set up for closers.

HONEY MUG: Showed good speed but got cooked on the front-end by a Larry Rivelli monster wire-to-wire winner. Will shake loose wire-to-wire in a different spot.

I AM TOO WILD: Outsprinted Ready’s Mission to the lead and held on to run second behind a favored class-dropping winner. Can shake loose up front.

LIPLINER: Zipped out to the lead with strong improvement settling legit fractions and held on to be second. Dangerous speed vs. maiden claimers.

MOORAC: Well-bet first starter was live on the tote board but broke poorly and didn’t take to the Polytrack. Will have a new lease on life on another surface.

PIECE OF MY HEART: First starter lost to a Larry Rivelli monster, but ran well to be second and was six lengths clear of third. Shouldn’t remain a maiden for long.

SUVOROV’S HERO: First starter closed from far back out of it to rally like a shot in the stretch for second in tough career debut route assignment. Looks like a runner and won’t remain a maiden for long.

TRAPPE VALLEY: Grabbed a quarter three races ago and then no dice on the grass two starts back, but then positively rebounded to run second in a tough spot ahead of three last-out winners closing weekend at Arlington. Trending toward a win at present.

UNSCATHED: Looked extremely good in return race off a nine-month layoff, easily disposing of $6,250 claimers for Larry Rivelli and getting claimed by Steve Manley. Likely repeater.
