Australian racing picks for Gold Coast and Geelong

May 28th, 2020

It is Queensland’s turn to shine over the next few weeks, as far as Australian racing is concerned, with six stakes scheduled for Friday night at Doomben, including the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap.

Tonight, the Queensland meeting is the Gold Coast, and there is a competitive, nine-race card available for BetAmerica horseplayers, and the first race kicks off at 9:40 p.m. ET.

Here is a pick for that meeting, along with a selection for one of the other four Thoroughbred meetings available tonight, Geelong.

Gold Coast, Race 4: #1 Jadentom

This mare is coming off an impressive first-up win at Toowoomba, and she has a good record when she is second up from a break.

She has been burdened with quite the weight (138 pounds) but claiming apprentice jockey Justin Huxtable will lighten that load a little, and as I said on a video I recorded for TwinSpires about this race, she could probably carry me to victory!

Jadentom filled the placings in a stakes last year, and this is a great distance for her. I hope we can get those 5-2 morning-line odds.

Geelong, Race 3: #3 Redissent

This 3-year-old gelding has returned from a break with two encouraging runs and looks well placed to break through for his first win. Both of his last two runs have been on a heavy track, and he should appreciate getting back on a firm surface.

Redissent will be fitter, and jockey Jordan Childs should be able to settle him around mid-field. He will be running on at the pointy end of the race.

I’m liking those 5-1 morning-line odds, but think he will start a touch shorter.

Good luck!
