Australian racing picks for Rosehill Gardens and Doomben
It’s the biggest night of the week for racing from Down Under, and there’s four Australian Thoroughbred meetings available for BetAmerica horseplayers.
One of Sydney’s premier tracks, Rosehill Gardens, kicks things off at 9:35 p.m. ET, before Newcastle, Doomben, and Belmont join the wagering opportunities.
Here are a couple I like at Rosehill and Doomben.
Rosehill, Race 1: #7 Fashchanel
This Johnny O’Shea-trained filly returned from a layoff with an impressive win over six furlongs at Kembla Grange last month. She showed a great turn of foot to kick clear down the stretch.
FASHCHANEL (I Am Invincible x Elegant Fashion) bolts in first up @kemblaraces under a great ride from @LeverChad. Trained by @JohnOSheaRacing she was a $400k @inglis_sales Easter graduate, congratulations to all connections. pic.twitter.com/ufCKZhmjhT

The step up to seven furlongs will suit her, she’s drawn ideally, and gun Sydney jockey James McDonald will likely be able to dictate.
Fashchanel hasn’t missed the board in four starts and looks set to continue that trend tonight at an attractive 4-1 on the morning line.
Doomben, Race 3: #17 Hi Fiver
It’s hard to believe we might get double-figure odds for Hi Fiver tonight. This 5-year-old gelding from the barn of Brisbane trainer Brian Wakefield has been impressive this campaign. He has won his last two on the trot at Gatton and Doomben.

Hi Fiver likes to close late, so the inside barrier is a slight concern, but experienced jockey Larry Cassidy should be able to weave a passage. He is carrying significantly less weight than his last two races, so that will help, too.
Good luck!
