Australian racing picks for Townsville and Wyong

It’s fantastic to see horse owners will be permitted to attend the meeting at Royal Randwick on Friday night. Let’s hope Australian racing authorities and health officials find a way for crowds to safely start attending race meetings again soon.

Tonight, BetAmerica horseplayers can feast on four Thoroughbred venues from Down Under, including Townsville, Wellington, Wangaratta, and Wyong.

Here are a couple picks to get your night of Aussie action started!

Townsville, Race 1: #1 Tennessee Boy

It’s an early start at Townsville tonight, with the first race at 9:32 p.m. ET.

This gelding hasn’t missed the top three in his six starts.

He seems to love the track, as three of his five wins have come at Townsville. He also relishes the distance, with two wins and a second from three starts over 5 furlongs.

Tennessee Boy returns from a short break tonight, and has shown previously that he can run well — and win — first up. It’s also great to see jockey Wanderson D’Avila continue the partnership with the horse.

Wyong, Race 3: #3 Crown Affair

Crown Affair had success at this track and distance two starts back. The gelding from the David Payne stable didn’t appear to handle the heavy track at Randwick last start, but goes OK in soft conditions. His last win at Wyong was also under the same track conditions as tonight’s contest.

Crown Affair is also nominated for Friday night’s meeting at Randwick, but with plenty of rain in the forecast for that meeting, I expect connections to keep the commitment to tonight’s race at Wyong.

Those 6-1 morning-line odds look enticing.
