Looking for a longshot to play this week? #8 Cloud Break (15-1 on the morning line) might be worth a look.

The daughter of Treasure Beach never threatened after she blew the break in her debut sprinting 4 1/2 furlongs over the Gulfstream dirt last month, but there are a couple reasons to believe she can fare better Wednesday.

Treasure Beach won the Irish Derby (G1) and Secretariat (G1) on turf, so the surface switch should be ideal for Cloud Break. Trainer Thomas Foley will also equip Cloud Break with blinkers, which could help sharpen her focus and speed.

Wednesday’s field is unremarkable on paper, so Cloud Break doesn’t need a ton of improvement to factor at a price. We’ll bet her to win and play her underneath the first-time starters #2 Director’s Cut (5-2), #3 J’s Silky (7-2), and #7 Funwhileitlasted (3-1) in the exacta and trifecta.
