#7 Beavis (3-1 on the morning line) looks tough to beat in this maiden claiming sprint for 2-year-olds.
The experienced gelding has run five times and displayed tactical speed to finish third and fourth in a pair of races over this track, distance, and class level in August.
Trained by Jamie Ness (a 25% winner at Delaware), Beavis enters off a third-place effort for a $16,000 claiming tag and figures to appreciate the drop back down the class ladder. With recent Brisnet Speed ratings of 70, 66, and 67, Beavis is easily the fastest of the experienced dirt horses in Thursday’s field.
Beavis will add Lasix for his sixth start and retain the services of jockey Jamie Rodriguez, a 31% winner when he teams up with Ness.
Let’s bet Beavis to win and key him on top of an exacta, with #1 Jamie Jamel (15-1) and #6 Palatial Times (5-2) underneath.
