Presque Isle Downs, Race 1: $20,000 claiming (1 mile on Tapeta, 4:45 p.m. ET)
#3 Blackline (6-5 on the morning line) appears well-spotted for hot trainer Michael Stidham, who has compiled a 2-1-2 record from seven starts at the current Presque Isle meet.
A 4-year-old son of Scat Daddy (whose progeny has excelled over all surfaces), Blackline has shown talent running long on turf, where he won an allowance during the winter at Tampa Bay Downs and most recently rallied to finish second in a $25,000 claiming event at Delaware Park.
A drop down the class ladder should make Blackline dangerous, even with the switch to Tapeta.
He is a clear standout in terms of recent Brisnet Speed ratings, with a 90 at Tampa that easily tops Tuesday’s field. For good measure, leading jockey Pablo Morales (a 27% winner at Presque Isle) has been named to ride.
#2 Crazy Kater (5-1) and #4 Buffalo Max (6-1), who finished 1-2 at this class level and distance Sept. 8, can vie for second place behind the deserving favorite.
$15 exacta: 3 with 2,4 ($30)
Good luck!
