Blue Chip Matchmaker and Levy set for fifth and final leg
This coming weekend will mark the fifth and final rounds of eliminations for both the Blue Chip Matchmaker and George Morton Levy Memorial Series for Free-For-All pacers with a dwindling number of slots available for those lucrative finals on April 20.
Friday evening will offer three divisions of the BCMM last prelim and 15 of the 20 distaffers will be competing in the the series through all five legs, barring any scratches. Defending series champion, Shartin N and stablemate Bettor Joy N, both of which sport three wins through the first four rounds of the series, have opted to bypass the fifth round and train up to the $400,000 final next Saturday.
In the first split, railbound Camera Lady (Matt Kakaley) will look to earn a spot in the consolation and opening round winner Delightfulmemphis N will look to enhance her slim chances of making the final, as will Betterb Chevron N who has been unlucky throughout the prelims and draws outside again. Seaswift Joy N owns two wins in the series and should make the final with another solid effort here.
Then two races later in the second BCMM split, railbound Caviart Cherie will look to earn a berth in the consolation, while Kaitlyn N (Kakaley) will seek her first win in the series after two second- and two third-place finishes, as will Maryland-bred Twinkle (Scott Zeron) who has been second twice and third once. Feelin Red Hot (George Brennan) has secured a spot in the final thanks to a pair of victories and two second-place finishes for trainer Ron Burke.
Then two races later in the third BCMM split, two-time series heroin Apple Bottom Jeans (Corey Callahan) will seek to tuneup for the final next weekend after bypassing round four for trainer Dylan Davis. Shezza GNP N draws the rail, but Medusa (Jason Bartlett) has been third three times in four outings and will look to secure a spot in the consolation.
Saturday night will offer four divisions of the fifth round of the George Morton Levy series for Free-For-All pacers and many of the serious contenders for the $665,000 final are on hand for this week. Of the 32 entrants, 21 will be making their fifth appearance in the series and the quartet of elims on Saturday night have little in common.

I'm Some Graduate, Control Tower, Bettor Memories and Beckhams Z Tam have shown promise in the series and have taken money, but they are more inclined for a berth in the consolation than the lucrative final one week later.
One race later in the second split, elim winners The Downtown Bus, Lyons Steel and Bettors Fire N will all likely need a first- or second-place finish to reach the final. Imarocnrollegend has been second twice, as has Gokudo Hanover. Rodeo Romance has finished third three times, while Major Crocker A has been second once and third once in three outings. Lyons Steel won the third round in 1:50.4 but was parked-the-mile last weekend.

Among the serious contenders in this event are two-time winners More The Better N (Zeron), Rodeo Rock (Andrew McCarthy) and The Wall (Joe Bongiorno). Rodeo Rock won the first two rounds in gritty fashion before finishing third behind Western Fame in round three.
