Churchill: 2022 Mrs. Revere Stakes Exotics Plays

November 23rd, 2022

A talented and sizable field of 11 sophomore fillies will travel 1 1/16 miles on the Churchill Downs green in Friday’s $300,000 Mrs. Revere S. (G2). I am not sold on any single contender in the field and will dabble with a few runners in my exotics wagers.

#4 Bubble Rock is my tepid top selection for conditioner Brad Cox. By More Than Ready, the Shortleaf Stable homebred led in the lane before tiring late in the Valley View S. (G3) at Keeneland last time out, but I believe that she can carry her speed all the way to the wire on Friday.

The Kentucky-bred miss has pace in a field lacking it and comes in with a few swift morning drills to hint that she will be sharp in the affair. Joel Rosario will be in the silks atop the win player and send her to the front in the early going.

#3 Lady Puchi is far from a win machine, but the talented daughter of Into Mischief boasts a nice turn of foot and has held up well while facing mostly better this campaign. The three-year-old was a game allowance victress at Keeneland two back, but she didn’t fire her best shot in the recent Valley View S. (G3) last time out.

The bay will move forward on Friday and figures to sit a decent trip from the second or third flight early on while getting first run on the deeper closing types. Julien Leparoux inherits the mount.

Paulo Lobo’s #10 Quality Star finally broke through with a sharp maiden victory in her most recent showing, and I expect the Animal Kingdom filly to run well against this cast despite the big class rise. The consistent miss shows two solid tries on this surface from as many local appearances, and she will be of very good value for a heady outfit with Joe Talamo riding. She will be doing her best work inside the final furlong.
