Churchill Downs, Race 9: Allowance (1 3/8 miles on turf, 5:06 p.m. ET)
#4 Sursum Corda (9-2 on the morning line) fired off a big effort in a 1 1/8-mile allowance at Keeneland last month.
Reserved in last place, behind slow fractions of :24.28, :49.59, and 1:14.13, the 3-year-old daughter of Constitution was disadvantaged by the modest tempo, but nevertheless rallied resolutely down the stretch to finish third, a length behind the winner.

Sursum Corda dashed the final furlong in approximately :11.20, an excellent fraction.
The stretch out to 1 3/8 miles should be right up Sursum Corda’s alley, considering she broke her maiden over the distance at Saratoga.
Draw a line through her eighth-place effort in the Dueling Grounds Oaks — where she knocked heads with elite competition over a tricky European-style turf course — and Sursum Corda’s recent form looks solid.
Assuming her morning-line odds hold up, we’ll bet Sursum Corda to win.
$25 to win on #4 Sursum Corda
Good luck!
