Race 7 at Australia A (Hawkesbury) Wednesday night is a benchmark 64 handicap race going around two right-hand turns. A field of 10 older horses are entered and the ground is expected to be “Good.” FREE International Past Performances every day at Brisnet.com! #4 PAMELA comes in here in remarkably consistent form. She draws post 2 and has enough gate speed to take advantage of it. After a freshening in December where she had two barrier trials, she came back and ran second going seven furlongs in a Class 2 race. Pamela then beat benchmark 58 handicap horses going one mile in very fast time on turf that should be similar to today’s Last out, Pamela was able to make the lead while setting a very slow pace. She held her position in the deep stretch and even surged with a furlong to go. Unfortunately, she bore out towards the finish line and interfered with her rival. After a look, she was disqualified and placed second. Now, she is asked to go another furlong but I like that she has natural speed, settled beautifully last out on the lead, showed determination in the stretch and might get an easier trip today. Both of her wins came on turf courses rated as “Good.” #3 TENORINO had been racing against better handicap foes with modest results. Last out, he dropped down to this class level and was only beaten 1 ½ lengths going 7 ½ furlongs. His last two starts came on turf rated as “Soft” and he has run well in the past over “Good.” The distance is a question mark as he has never tried it after 42 lifetime starts but he drops a couple of pounds off his last start. Tommy Berry picks up the mount on the gelded son of Galileo. A longshot possibility is #8 CHIEF KIDDER. Last year, he showed good speed against better handicap foes and lately has been rallying from off the pace. His last three starts this year came against benchmark 70 handicap foes and now he drops in class while stretching out in distance. Jay Ford rides back – only 4% lately but 10% for the past year. Pamela could be the controlling speed going long from an advantageous post. ***Don’t forget TwinSpires.com’s Australian Racing Bet Back offer where you can receive up to $5 back on your first win bet if your horse finishes second This offer is valid on Australian A tracks Monday through Thursday if you opt in and play at least four races on a single day using the new TwinSpires platform There is a maximum bonus of $50 per player each week
