Race 1 at Kempsey (Australia A) on Wednesday night is a benchmark 58 handicap going just over 1 3/16 miles. The track is expected to be "Good 4" so we will lean towards those that have some success or at least experience over firmer ground. After a seven-month spell, she came back with two barrier trials over soft ground then rallied for second going 7 1/2 furlongs over a very wet, Heavy track. She dropped down to this handicap level last out and won over similar ground going a mile at 5-2. She picks up a five-pound penalty off that win and switches to Aaron Bullock, who is 10 for his last 50 starts and 21 percent for his last 350. Hard-knocking mare should handle the added distance and all four of her career wins came on Good ground. #2 APACHE BELLE was a close second two starts back going a mile on Heavy ground then came back on Good ground and won going away after sitting just off the pace. She picks up weight off that win but it shows that she is in good form and this is the farthest she has ever gone. I like the fact that she takes money in most of her starts and is drawn well in post four with a rider that has been aboard her before. #4 FASTQUEST is a one-dimensional closer that can handle any kind of ground. He's been racing at shorter distances and should have enough time to get unwound in here. Off for only nine days, he has been victimized by wide draws in his last two starts and draws perfectly today. Seven-year-old gelding has won on all types of ground and he doesn't have to improve much to be a part of this at a juicy price. RED HEAT looks like she's ready to run a big one in her third start off a layoff.
