Dick Powell's Australian Pick of the Week for October 30

Race 6 at Seymour (Australia A) on Wednesday night is a benchmark 58 handicap for three year-olds and upward going seven furlongs around one, sweeping left-handed turn. The track is expected to be "Good-4" so it is right in the middle of the ground classifications.

#2 MASERATIE BAY raced evenly in his career debut back in April against much better company at Caulfield going six furlongs in fast time. Off for six months, he returned with a barrier trial then rallied from far back to break his maiden at Kyneton. He was bet heavily that day and has to pick up nine pounds off the win but the son of Artie Schiller can handle the move up in class with a rail-skimming ride with Ted Nugent.

#6 MARY'S PRIDE has to overcome a wide draw here but he has enough pace to gain some kind of early position. Last year, she won going this distance here against this handicap level when carrying one pound less. This season, she has three straight seconds against this handicap level at Kyneton and has shown the ability to rally from far back or go to the front like she did last time out. She makes her third start of the month and should be fit as she can be.

#5 LATEST BENTLEY ran well two starts back when she rallied from post 14 to miss by three lengths going six furlongs. She came back with a sharp win last out going longer and picks up four pounds. He draws towards the outside for a clear run around the one turn. Neil Dyer (9 for 50 lately) has been red hot and he switches to Mitch Aitken.

Maseratie Bay can make it two in a row while facing modest winners.
