Dick Powell’s Australian Pick of the Week March 27

March 26th, 2019

Race 4 at Australia A (Hawkesbury) Wednesday night is a maiden race for all ages going 5 1/2 furlongs. A field of 10 are entered and the ground is expected to be extremely heavy and as low as a 9 on the scale. FREE International Past Performances every day at Brisnet.com! #4 DUBAI HARBOUR made his lone career start 12 months ago at Kembla Grange when he pressed the pace from post 12 before weakening going five furlongs. The final time was very quick and he earned a solid speed rating. Off for 10 months, he returned with a quick barrier trial win going 3 ½ furlongs at Randwick then came back there and won again going 5 ¼ lengths. With those two trials under his belt and a decent debut last year to give him some experience, he should be ready to graduate today for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. The son of Harbour Watch draws well and gets Brett Prebble today. #1 CHILLED ROSE is the early 5/2 morning-line favorite for Richard Freedman. He has had four career starts and finished second in three of them so he has an experience edge over many of these. Two starts back on heavy ground, he was a good second at Gosfield then came back and led to the deep stretch last out at Warwick Farm. The son of Artie Schiller has to pick up seven pounds off that effort and will have to be used hard from post two. He has a big edge with his speed ratings but the weight and low odds are a negative. #7 IMPURITY has had 15 chances to break his maiden and is always right there without getting to the wire first. He rallied from far back to get second two starts back here at Hawkesbury then came back and ran the same race to miss by a length in a wide trip from post nine. He drops five pounds off that effort and draws better today. Jason Collett rides back – 10-for-50 the past 50 rides. Dubai Harbour looks well prepared for his second career start. He showed some running ability last year in his debut and doesn’t have to improve too much to fit with these. He has barrier trial wins over “Soft” and “Heavy” turf courses which should come in handy today.
