Dover Downs Offers Solid Thursday Card
While many novice and serious thoroughbred racing fans are eager to see the inaugural Grade I, $12 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, standardbred fans are content to grind out some profits on various overnight events like those at Dover Downs on Thursday evening.
Right at the midway point of the Thursday card, solid group of younger pacers looking to join the Open ranks will clash in a non-winners of five races or $62,001 lifetime condition. Big Place (Art Stafford, Jr.) has won once and finished second once in three starts, See You Tuesday (Ross Wolfenden) has won twice and finished second once in three outings, banked $15,600 and taken a mark of 1:51.3 and Sonny At The Beach (Victor Kirby) will also seek his third win in four starts this year for trainer Bryan Truitt and will also attempt to rebound from a fourth-place effort as the solid choice in this class last week.

Just to his inside is the durable Te Kawau N (Yannick Gingras) who is still in quest of his first win in four outings this year, having finished second twice in three outings. Te Kawau N was part of a stellar group of horses from 'down under' that arrived stateside a year ago, led by George Morton Levy Memorial Series hero Bit Of A Legend N.
Then one race later in the $30,000 Preferred Handicap for aged pacers, Soto, Little Ben, Dancin Yankee, Arque Hanover and Bushwacker will all vie for favoritism - seriously the post time choice could be 3-1 here - in this ultra competitive feature. Soto has the rail and has one win in three starts this year. as does Little Ben. Both Dancin Yankee and Arque Hanover have won once in two outings, while Bushwacker seeks his third straight victory for trainer Chris Ryder. One year ago at this time he was the best older pacer in the land.
