Dubai World Cup Remains West Coast’s Race to Lose
The 2018 Dubai World Cup takes place on March 31 at Meydan Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates. Check out my current Top 5 along with current future book odds.
West Coast can track right off the front runners. He can come from the clouds. If the pace is slow up front, he can lead all the way. The only real knock are his short odds. But, other than that, it's hard to find a reason to think he doesn't show his best on March 31. His best is plenty good enough to win the Dubai World Cup.
I think Sharp Azteca bounces back with a big race. If anything, he could take them a long way. Front runners have often held their speed over the Meydan dirt. Maybe, Sharp Azteca can do that. At the huge odds, I might take a shot.
She's classy enough to have a shot. Also, outside of West Coast, the rest of the 2018 Dubai World Cup field isn't that intimidating. I'm not the only one who believes she's got a shot in Dubai. Her 8/1 international odds makes her the second choice to win the race.

1. West Coast 6/4
The second place finisher to Gun Runner in the Pegasus World Cup, West Coast, no doubt should be a heavy favorite to win the Dubai World Cup. Bob Baffert, West Coast's trainer, has won 3 Dubai World Cups: Silver Charm in 1998, Captain Steve in 2001, and Arrogate in 2017.West Coast can track right off the front runners. He can come from the clouds. If the pace is slow up front, he can lead all the way. The only real knock are his short odds. 2. Sharp Azteca 20/1
Sharp Azteca finished eighth in the Pegasus World Cup. The Jorge Navarro trainee didn't appear comfortable at any point during the race. He might not want to run 1 1/4 miles. Then again, Gun Runner isn't in this race, and there doesn't appear to be much other early speed.I think Sharp Azteca bounces back with a big race. If anything, he could take them a long way. 3. Toast of New York 50/1
Okay, so Toast of New York did end up finishing last in the Pegasus World Cup. However, at the 3/4 mark of the race, he wasn't that far behind West Coast and Gun Runner. It's obvious that he was short in the Pegasus. If he's tighter in the Dubai World Cup, who knows? He's definitely a classy sort that has proven he likes to run on dirt.4. North America 16/1
North America finished second to Thunder Snow in the Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2. Why North America instead of Thunder Snow? North America ran all the way closest to the lead. It took a huge effort from Thunder Snow to pass North America by the slimmest of margins. If North America improves off that race, he might be closest to Sharp Azteca. That could give him a shot.5. Forever Unbridled 8/1
If I decide to bet on a closer to win the Dubai World Cup, that closer will be Forever Unbridled. It won't be Gunnevera. Yes, I know Gunnevera finished third in the Pegasus World Cup. I believe Forever Unbridled is a better horse. She'll ride a 3 race win streak into Dubai.She's classy enough to have a shot.
