Fair Grounds Pick 4 hinges on Lecomte favorites

A big day of racing will be held at Fair Grounds on Saturday, with a six-pack of stakes races comprising the 13-race card. Races 7-through-10 make up a Pick 4 sequence of interest to me, and I will give out my tickets.

Race 7

The Silverbulletday kicks off the wager and a lot depends on where #2 WONDER GADOT lands as she is cross-entered in the Lecomte two races later. Mark Casse trainee comes off a dominating tally in the Demoiselle (G2) in New York and is clearly the one to beat among the dozen in this affair. I will assume she lands in this softer spot and will single her on one ticket, while going four-deep on another. Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) third #1 BLONDE BOMBER, the well-bred #5 STELLAR MOON and Casse-trained #7 HEAVENLY LOVE, dominating winner of the Alcibiades (G1) two back, will be included.

Race 8

A field of 10 will travel about 1 1/16 miles on the turf in the Colonel E.R. Bradley H. (G3). Tropical Turf (G3) runner-up #3 GALTON, Grade 2 victor #5 TOWER OF TEXAS, third in the Tropical Turf, defending champ #6 GRANNY'S KITTEN and #8 SAHAM, get top billing from this corner.

Race 9

In the Lecomte (G3), I am sticking the pair of morning-line choices -- #12 PRINCIPE GUILHERME and #10 INSTILLED REGARD. While I think this field does possess some talented runners in one of the better renditions of this race in recent years, a top showing from either of the aforementioned should be good enough.

The former is unbeaten and untested from a pair of lifetime runs for conditioner Steve Asmussen, including an 11+ length allowance waltz on this main oval to acclimate to his surroundings. He is an exciting prospect.

Instilled Regard was a huge second in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G1) last time out and was since flattered when unbeaten winner McKinzie came back to dominate the Sham (G3) last weekend. Jerry Hollendorfer trainee is starting to get good at the right time.

Race 10

The Louisiana attracted 11 and looks as wide-open as a race can. #3 LEOFRIC, #4 CEDARTOWN, #5 THE PLAYER, #6 SCUBA, and #8 COOPTADO are my top ones, although hitting the 'all' button will be my second option.
