Fillies Clash In PA All Stars Splits At Pocono And Sires Stakes At Saratoga; Top-10 Update

Hambletonian Oaks hopefuls (e) storm into Pocono on June 9 in a quartet of PA All Stars divisions ($30,000 each) and into Saratoga for a pair of lucrative New York Sires Stakes (NYSS) events. The first division of seven at Pocono contains four “Oaks”-prospects among the field, with early-favorite Cloud Nine Fashion (e) facing her second soph event. She is the morning-line choice. However, we like the chances for Personal Paradise (e), another improving member of Ake Svanstedt’s barn. Should be a fair price in the seven-filly field. In division two, seven of eight fillies with Oaks hopes are out to get Spring In Paris, who is not eligible. She has been on the board in eight starts with six wins and a lot more money than the others so far this season. However, we are with Swizzle Sticks (e) again this week. Trainer Jim Campbell has this one ready to shake things up and at a price worthy of backing. Division three features a quartet of eligible fillies with Millies Possession (e) looking for win five of five. She’s yet another Campbell lady and here she is bound to be the big crowd choice. Best on the bill for an upset is Beautiful Sin (e), Per Engblom’s filly in her second soph mile with a place finish to her credit in the debut. Ending the All Stars parade come five Oaks eligible fillies of eight at the gate. The public may not reward any of them favorites, though, with two hot local state-breds doing well this season. Nonetheless, we recognize Asiago (e) as one of the top three choices but lean in toward Jazzy Fashion (e). She would complete a Campbell hattrick taking this, which is no super feat for the productive barn. At Saratoga, NYSS fillies make up two fields; the first is worth $90,050 and the second $88,450. State-breds that won’t see the gate leading the Hambletonian field make up six-eighths of this field. One of them, Amanda Blue Chip, is the morning-line favorite. Two fillies we have followed so far in the division—Pilgrims Lass (e) and Sweet Chapter (e)—fill out the field. The latter has been on the board in all four starts for trainer John Butenschoen, and gets another nod from us to pick up her first win of the season. NYSS round two is heavily focused upon Quincy Blue Chip and co-starring Winndevie (e). The latter, second in the morning line, is on target for the first Saturday in August only if she starts to put herself in gear for some big dough—like what is offered here.
