Juvenile champion Game Winner and Florida Derby (G1) winner Maximum Security, both owned by Gary and Mary West, have been made the co-morning line favorites for this week's fourth and final 2019 Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW). Trained by Bob Baffert and Jason Servis, respectively, the two colts were installed at odds of 8-1.
Game Winner is expected to compete in Saturday's Santa Anita Derby (G1), while other KDFW entrants are also expected this Saturday in the Wood Memorial (G2) and Blue Grass (G2). Improbable and Omaha Beach, both of whom are listed at 10-1, will race next in the April 13 Arkansas Derby (G1).
The KDFW, which features $2 Win and Exacta wagering, provide fans of Thoroughbred racing with opportunities to place bets on possible entrants in the $3 million Kentucky Derby at odds that could be far greater than those available on the day of the race. The pool opens on Friday at noon (EDT) and closes Sunday at 6 p.m.
Bets can be placed at Churchill Downs, TwinSpires.com and other satellite wagering centers across North America. There are no refunds in the future wagers. Should Churchill Downs officials determine during the duration of the three-day pool that one of the wagering interests has experienced an injury, illness or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from participating in the Kentucky Derby, betting on the individual horse will be suspended.
