Get a free $10 win bet on Winx in George Ryder

March 21st, 2019

The prospect of a wet Rosehill track suits Australian superstar Winx just fine as she seeks her fourth consecutive George Ryder (G1), and 32nd straight win, Friday night. Not only is she three-for-three on heavy going, but she trounced them by 7 1/4 lengths in such conditions in the 2017 running. Winx again towers over her rivals in this George Ryder, the 5TH race at Rosehill (Australia A), with a scheduled post time of 12:05 a.m. (EDT). The about 7 1/2-furlong affair is expected to serve as her next-to-last start, with her grand finale penciled in for the April 13 Queen Elizabeth (G1) during The Championships at Randwick. TwinSpires.com is making another special offer in connection with the all-time great mare. If you wager at least $100 on the undercard races (Races 1-4 at Rosehill AUS A, or Races 1-3 at Eagle Farm AUS B), get an instant $10 bet for the George Ryder Stakes to play Winx! Winx’s trainer, Chris Waller, also has the heavy favorite in the race immediately preceding hers – The Autumn Sun in the 4TH, the Rosehill Guineas (G1) – hopefully the opener to a quick Group 1 double. So who’s lining up to be part of Winx history in the George Ryder? Last year’s Toorak H. (G1) winner, Land of Plenty, enters in good form from Melbourne with a close second in the C.F. Orr (G1) and fourth in the Futurity (G1). At one point in the mix for Dubai World Cup night, now he switches to a right-handed Sydney and on ground that could be softer than he’d prefer. Note that he adds blinkers in this second start for the Snowdens. With Egg Tart scratched in favor of the 6TH Race, Winx has two stablemates left here, both relatively recent recruits to the yard. Prompt Response tuned up with third in the March 9 Canterbury (G1) – to Trapeze Artist and Shoals – in her debut for Waller. Second-best to Godolphin’s high-class Alizee during The Championships in 2018, she earned her Group 1 laurel in last June’s Tattersall’s Club Tiara (G1) for Waterhouse and Bott. Sandown Guineas (G2) winner Ringerdingding, most recently fourth in the Australian Guineas (G1), is one of two three-year-olds in the line-up. The other sophomore, the Team Hawkes-trained Brutal, was a troubled sixth in the Canterbury. The least exposed with a lifetime mark of 5-3-0-1, the O’Reilly colt has questions to answer along with obvious upside. Assuming a better start, Brutal figures to be prominent early, as does Prompt Response. Although So Si Bon has yet to break through at the Group level, he’s placed a handful of times, including in the 2017 Rosehill Guineas on heavy, and missed narrowly in the Blamey (G2) two back. In his latest, the So You Think gelding was a closing fourth in the about 1 1/4-mile Australian Cup (G1). Multiple Group 3 scorer Dreamforce steps up in class after successfully shouldering top weight in the Liverpool City Cup (G3), but has won or placed in six of seven tries at Rosehill. Rounding out the field is Group 3-placed Teleplay, who has the proverbial mountain to climb but is a wet-track aficionado. Winx’s presence lends further luster to one of the great days on the Australian calendar, Golden Slipper Day. The coveted juvenile prize goes off at 1:30 a.m. (EDT) as the 7TH, so come early before Winx and stay late!
