Handicapping the Rainbow Pick 6 mandatory payout at Gulfstream Park West

Sunday’s closing-day program at Gulfstream Park West features a mandatory payout in the Rainbow Pick 6. The Jackpot is nearing seven figures and if there isn’t a full payout on Saturday, more than $1 million in carryover money will be added to Sunday’s handle. That reduces the actual takeout percentage and presents an opportunity many horseplayers relish.
The Rainbow Pick 6 has a 20-cent minimum and begins in Race 4.
Here is my Rainbow Pick 6 analysis:
The sequence kicks off with a seven-horse field in Race 4 and I will go three-deep with #2 Lailoni, #3 Vicky Apple and #4 Infinity Sky.
#9 Milkah will be a popular single in Race 5, but the early 3-5 choice faltered last time as an odds-on favorite. I won’t throw her out, but will add #7 La Flamenca and #8 Golden Note to myticket.
In Race 6, #3 Deal With It Dude and #5 Cabre are logical contenders. I will also include #8 El Zeus, who had a troubled trip when stretching out to a route last time and is listed at 12-1 on the morning line. I like the 84 BRIS Speed rating the gelding registered two starts back.
My single comes in Race 7, #8 Eric the Salesman. A nice winner over the course in mid-October, the three-year-old gelding stepped up a level with a rallying fourth last time, beaten only 1 ¾ lengths, and I expect further progress in this spot. Pace Lopez picks up the mount and Eric the Salesman should be up close from the start on a dawdling pace. He’s listed at 5-2 on the morning line.
I will try to beat #2 Durlyn, the 8-5 morning line favorite in Race 8, and use #1 Stormy Boss, #3 Noncents and #9 Bargainaire.
In Race 9, #1 Passing Moments and #4 Blues Songs are the two runners I want for the final leg,
