Hanson: Looking for luck to continue for Rainbow 6 mandatory payout

They say the best time to attack a jackpot wager, like Sunday's Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park, is when there is a mandatory payout. An even better time is when that mandatory payout happily coincides with a boost in your betting capital.

I didn't get as richer as Gun Runner did winning Saturday's Pegasus World Cup (G1), but I was nonetheless thrilled for him and his connections and for myself as it gloriously capped a winning Pick 5 play I wrote up in this space earlier in the day. Having also used West Coast on my ticket, I can unequivocally say that the best Pick 5s are those you know you've essentially won at the quarter pole. Hearty congratulations to those who may have played along.

We'll try and keep the good luck rolling with the following Rainbow 6 ticket.

Race 7 -- #4 ULTIMATE CAUSE (3-1) lacked running room in the stretch against similar and missed the board as the favorite, but can make amends here with a better trip. Second time off the claim for Maker and form has evidently spruced up since adding Lasix. I'm with Scott Shapiro that she'll be my single in the sequence.

Race 8 -- #4 ANABELLE QUEEN (6-1), while not particularly quick, has been keeping good company in recent months and has placed in all three starts since breaking her maiden for a tag. #2 HONEY GRAEME (8-1) removes blinkers exiting a key allowance on the dirt. Saratoga debut winner is out of a mare that placed on the grass.

Race 9 -- #1 ATTORNEY AL (10-1) goes second time Navarro after missing the break in a turf dash. Has some early foot. #6 PEKIN (4-1) a respectable second two back and simply didn't fire in a grass try last out. First-time starters #3 KID KANTHAROS (8-1) and #9 GRAN RED (9-2) are both by win-early sires.

Race 10 -- #2 FIRST DISTINCTION (2-1) a must-use on general form but prone to bombing at short odds. #3 PRINCESS KNOLL (7-2) has been worse than second only once in seven starts over this track. Last-out dull try on the grass is forgivable. #8 PARA VIVIR (6-1) capable from a variety of early positions. She and Jaramillo have made a good team in the past.

Race 11 -- While I agree with colleague James Scully that #2 STORMYMEISTER (7-2) looks like potential single material, especially if she runs back to her debut. Still, gaps between starts raise some flags. The other Barboza, #5 THAT'S HER M. O. (10-1), could be an interesting off-the-pace contender with Gaffalione up. #4 DANCE RHYTHMS (5-2) will be overbet off her big maiden win, but that doesn't mean she can't be used. #3 LADY FREEDOM (8-1) has been blasted in a pair of graded stakes, but actually has victories in maiden special weight and allowance company, both open variety.

Race 12 -- #8 PADEN looks like a damned if you, damned if you don't type horse in this race. I'll risk not using him and instead throw in #9 INMYFATHERSIMAGE (5-1), #12 STARSHIP APOLLO (9-2), and #15 FRANCOIS (8-1), all of whom have solid form of late. For a flyer, I'll throw in #1 CALL TO HONOR (20-1), who met trouble last time and might be racing himself back into shape.
