Holland's North America Racing Picks for June 13

Churchill

Race 4

Maidens sprinting on grass include #11 Healthful (12-1), a debuting daughter of good young turf sire Summer Front. She is out of Biofuel, a Canadian Horse of the Year who finished second in the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1). Trainer Colebrook wins with a slightly low 8% of his first-time starters but filly has posted two recent bullet works at Keeneland. 3-year-old appears ready for a good first outing under Lanerie, who has won with two of his last eight rides for the barn.

Race 8

Plenty of early pace may set up well for a closer, such as #10 Even Beat (8-1), who finished well when third over the course and distance in her latest last month in her first outing since December. Gray has a record of 13-3-2-1 lifetime on grass and trainer Maker wins with 20% of his runners second off a layoff. Mare can be along late with Talamo in the irons.

Race 11

#4 He’s No Lemon (15-1) has not been seen since being promoted to first after passing the post second in the Bald Eagle Derby at this distance at Laurel in September. 4-year-old showed improvement in his latest efforts for trainer Motion, who wins with 20% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Son of Lemon Drop Kid meets a tough field, but won his one previous start on this course and is in his element at this distance. Another with upset potential is #11 Ry’s the Guy (20-1). 4-year-old may not have been suited to the Gulfstream turf in his three outings this year, but won his one previous start on this course and finished a close second in the Dueling Grounds Derby in September. Bay has been working well for trainer Wilkes and can be forwardly placed throughout with Landeros remaining aboard.

Belmont

Race 1

Trainer Danner has won with a solid 17% of his runners this year and saddles #12 No Sense (8-1), a debuting son of 11% first-out sire Street Sense who is a half-brother to Lexington (G3) winner Derby Kitten. Gelding’s works include a good 4-furlong move in :48 3/5 five days ago for Danner, who wins with 9% of his first-time starters. Dark bay could be ready for a good outing with Franco taking the mount.

Gulfstream

Race 4

#1 Straight Up Smarty (6-1) has not been seen since being reclaimed by Larry Rivelli when making some progress to finish sixth at Hawthorne in October. Rivelli wins with 36% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and mare owns a lifetime record of 22-6-4-2 on turf. Daughter of Run Away and Hide has tactical speed and can be in good early position breaking from the rail with Jaramillo in the saddle.

Race 5

Newcomer #7 Treasury (10-1) has a good win-early pedigree being by Speightstown and out of a mare by Medaglia d’Oro. Trainer Olivares failed to win with his last seven first-time starters but gelding’s works include a bullet 5-furlong move in :59 3/5 at Gulfstream Park West two weeks ago. Dark bay could be overlooked here with Zayas taking the mount.

Laurel

Race 4

Trainer Trombetta wins with 17% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and saddles #9 Never Enough Time (6-1), who makes her turf debut and was last seen when fading to finish fourth in a stakes on the main track here last June. Filly should be well suited to the surface being by Munnings and out of a mare by Partner’s Hero and has been working well for Trombetta, who has won with 16% of his starters at this meet. 4-year-old can be in good position throughout with regular rider Pimentel aboard.

Woodbine

Race 7

#7 Untitled (5-2) disappointed when fading to finish fifth as the favorite over one mile at Gulfstream in his latest last month and will try an all-weather surface for the first time. Son of Khozan finished a good second in the Gotham (G3) three starts back and posted a fast 4-furlong work in :47 1/5 11 days ago for trainer Casse, who wins with 17% of his runners going from a route to a sprint. Bay can be forwardly placed early with Kimura in the saddle.

Golden Gate

Race 6

Maiden fillies include newcomer #9 Heat Seeking Leta (30-1), who has a good win-early pedigree being by Clubhouse Ride, whose offspring win 15% of their first outings. Chestnut is out of a full sister to Lethal Heat, who won the Hollywood Breeders’ Cup Oaks (G2). She has been working forwardly for trainer Haley, who won with one of her last 13 debutants. Filly is worth a look at long odds under Lopez, who has won with one of his last four rides for this barn.
