Holland's North America Racing Picks for June 21

June 21st, 2020

Churchill

Race 6

#9 Ivyetsu (4-1) gave way to finish unplaced after rushing up while wide after a slow start in the Honey Ryder at this distance at Gulfstream in her latest in early May. Daughter of Tapit is a half-sister to Last Kingdom, who won the Prix Daphnis (G3), and has been working well for trainer Arnold, who wins with 14% of his runners on grass. 3-year-old finished a close third in the Sweetest Chant (G3) earlier this year and can be along from off the pace with Leparoux up.

Race 10

Maidens going one mile on the main track include #6 Civil Servant (9-2), who has not been seen since closing to finish fourth over the track and distance in November in his second outing. Trainer Wilkes wins with 16% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and son of excellent young sire Constitution is a half-brother to three winners. #2 Uncle Kick (20-1) showed little when unplaced over 6 furlongs in his debut last month. Trainer Fernandez won with two of his last eight second-time starters, and the son of Uncle Mo has been working well and may show more at this longer distance.

Belmont

Race 8

Trainer Motion wins with 18% of his runners second off a layoff and saddles #1 Bredenbury (6-1), who comes off a weakening fourth-place finish over the course and distance after being a touch keen while pressing the early leaders earlier this month in her first start since February. Motion has won with three of his first 13 starters at this meet and filly may relax better from just off the pace with Saez in the irons.

Woodbine

Race 8

#1 Sansa’s Vow (6-1) has not been seen since closing to finish third after being hampered on the first turn in her debut over a mile at Fair Grounds in March. Trainer Carroll wins with 16% of her runners that have not raced for 90+ days and daughter of Broken Vow is a full sister to Tone Broke, who won the Prince of Wales Stakes. Dark bay has been working well and can be along from off the pace under Contreras, who has won with two of his last eight rides for the barn.

Prairie Meadows

Race 6

Newcomer #1 County Cork Kid (15-1) has a good win-early pedigree being by 14% first-out sire Jimmy Creed and out of a mare by Zamindar, whose offspring win 11% of their first outings. Gelding is a half-brother to two winners and works include a sharp 4-furlong move in :46 2/5 for trainer Wellington, who has won with four of his last 16 first-time starters. Another first-timer worth a look is #3 Oxday (15-1), who is by Oxbow and out of a stakes-placed mare by 16% debut sire Indian Charlie. Trainer Murphy wins with 27% of his newcomers and gelding has posted some decent works.

Ruidoso Downs

Race 4

#5 El Chumelito (4-1) broke a step slow when fourth over the track and distance at this level in his latest last month in his first outing since February. Trainer Salazar won with one of his last five runners second off a layoff, and son of Richard’s Kid figures to be the one to catch with Gomez retaining the mount.
