Holland's North America Racing Picks for June 5

June 4th, 2020

Tim likes a few horses on the latter part of the Churchill program Friday, and also has some picks for Belmont Park, Gulfstream Park, and Golden Gate Fields.

Churchill Downs

Race 7

#4 Shedaresthedevil (3-1) did not get the best of trips when recording a distant third in the Fantasy (G3) over the same distance at Oaklawn early last month. That was the first outing since March for the daughter of Daredevil, and she captured the Honeybee (G3) two back for trainer Cox, who has won with 21% of his starters at this meet. Filly won her previous start on this oval and can be along from off the pace under Geroux, who has won with 16% of his rides for the barn in the last 60 days.

Race 8

A competitive allowance over 9-furlongs includes #7 Eternal Peace (7-2), who was last seen rallying from off the pace to break her maiden at Gulfstream in April the second time out. By excellent turf sire War Front and out of a stakes-placed mare by Galileo, the dark bay is trained by Roger Attfield, who wins with 19% of his runners exiting a maiden triumph, and the filly has worked well since her last outing. She gets Geroux in the saddle.

Race 9

Trainer Meah has won with 23% of her runners this year and saddles #9 Can’tbetemall (8-1), who has not been seen since weakening to finish a well-beaten second over a mile at Del Mar last August. That was only his second outing, and his recent works include a sharp 4-furlong move from the gate in :46 2/5 at Keeneland a week ago. Son of Maclean’s Music is a half-brother to two winners and can be in the early mix with Gaffalione up.

Belmont Park

Race 8

#4 Bredenbury (4-1) was passed late after leading from the start in her latest over a mile at Tampa, finishing second to Outburst, who won the Florida Oaks (G3) in her next outing. The chestnut showed decent form in England last year before joining trainer Motion, who wins with 20% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Filly may be better suited to this distance and can be running from off the pace under Velazquez, who has won with four of his last six rides for the barn.

Race 10

Maidens going 6-furlongs on grass includes #11 It’s a Wrap (8-1), who tries turf for the first time and was last seen when weakening to finish third on the main track at Aqueduct in February the second time out. He should take to the surface being by Twirling Candy and out of a mare by First Defence, and the gelding has been working well for trainer Nevin, who wins with 18% of her runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Sophomore can be near the front throughout with Franco in the irons.

Gulfstream Park

Race 1

#8 Inaceptable (10-1) makes his turf debut and was last seen finishing distant fourth against better at Laurel in February. Gelding has a good pedigree for grass being by Animal Kingdom and out of a mare by Bernstein, and trainer Velazquez wins with 21% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Dark bay can be along from off the pace with Juarez taking the mount.

Golden Gate Fields

Race 8

Trainer Jackson wins with 13% of her first-time starters and saddles #10 Dark Proof (8-1), a debuting son of Idiot Proof, whose offspring win 14% of their first outings. Recent works include a solid 4-furlong move in :48 2/5 from the gate, and 3-year-old is a half-brother to four winners and may be ready to win at first asking with Herrera riding.
