Churchill Downs
Race 7
Trainer Kenneally wins with 18% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and saddles #9 Lead Guitar (3-1), who has not been seen since closing to finish second at Keeneland in October. Daughter of Maclean’s Music has won one of four starts on turf and makes her first outing for Kenneally, who wins with 18% of his runners on grass. Bay should find a solid pace to close into with Gaffalione in the irons.
Race 8
#10 High Cruise (8-1) has a decent win-early pedigree being by 12% first-out sire Bayern and out of a mare by Tapit. Chestnut posted a sharp 5-furlong work in :58 4/5 from the gate at Keeneland recently for trainer Sisterson, who wins with 10% of his first-time starters and who won with two of his first nine runners this meet. Colt may be ready to win at first asking with Gaffalione taking the mount.
Belmont Park
Race 2
#7 Don Juan Kitten (6-1) may have needed his latest when fading to finish unplaced after making a mid-race move in the English Channel at Gulfstream last month. That was his first start since finishing third in the Awad over the course and distance last October. Son of Kitten’s Joy is a half-brother to one other winner on grass and trainer Gargan wins with 26% of his runners second off a layoff. Gray can be in good position throughout with Carmouche in the saddle.
Race 4
Blinkers are added to #5 Spin Your Partner (8-1), who has not raced since finishing fifth in an even effort on the main track at Aqueduct in early March. Filly should take to turf being by Hard Spun, and trainer Delacour wins with 28% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. 4-year-old can be in good position throughout with Castellano riding.
Race 10
Maidens going 6 furlongs on grass include #2 Nic and Zoe (6-1), who has not been seen since fading to finish unplaced after dueling for the early lead in her debut at Saratoga in August. Daughter of good turf sprint sire Street Boss has been working well for trainer Ward, who wins with 22% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Dark bay figures to be the one to catch with Davis riding. Chad Brown wins with 21% of his first-time starters and saddles #8 Restraint of Trade (7-2), a debuting daughter of City Zip, who is a half-sister to one winner. $200K yearling purchase posted a solid 4-furlong work in :47 4/5 recently and is likely ready for a good first outing under Irad Ortiz.
Woodbine
Race 4
#10 Too Hot (8-1) has been gelded since finishing third in an even effort in his debut over 7 furlongs here in August. Son of good young turf sire Summer Front worked 5 furlongs in 1:00 eight days ago for trainer Day, who wins with 38% of her second-time starters. Bay can be forwardly placed from the start with Wilson remaining aboard.
Golden Gate Fields
Race 8
Trainer Delia wins with 13% of his newcomers and saddles #5 Island Heat (12-1), who has a decent win-early pedigree being by Unusual Heat and out of a mare by Pulpit. Gelding is a half-brother to six winners and has worked well for Delia, who has made a strong start with runners at this meet. 4-year-old may be ready to win at first asking under Martinez, who has won with 26% of his rides for the barn in the past two months.
