Handicapper Tim Holland brings us free picks from Belterra Park, Canterbury, Indiana Grand and Lone Star today.
Belterra Park
Race 4
#2 Redemption Day (12-1) makes her first start for trainer Brisset and was last seen when giving way badly to an unplaced finish on Gulfstream's main track in early-April in her second outing. Daughter of Quality Road is a half-sister to Improbable, who won the Hollywood Gold Cup (G1) earlier this year. Filly should be suited to turf and can be tough here with Achard riding.
Race 6
Trainer Sims wins with 24% of his runners second time off a layoff and saddles #5 Forbetterorworse (9-2), who drops in class off a fading sixth place at Churchill last month in his first start in over a year. Son of Majesticperfection is a half-brother to four winners and Sims has won with 13% of his starters this year. Gelding can be near the front from the start with Mojica up.
Indiana Grand
Race 2
Little early pace may help the chances of #2 Lucky Be a Lady (5-2), who was not a factor facing better after a slow start at Churchill last month in her first outing since early-November. Daughter of Itsmyluckyday finished third in one previous try on this oval, and dark bay figures to be the one to catch with Court remaining aboard.
Canterbury Park
Race 2
#2 Purple Monster (7-2) has won 1-of-3 starts on this track and was last seen when third at Tampa in early-May. Trainer Padilla wins with 13% of his runners in claiming events and has won with four of his 21 starters at this meet. Gelding can be forwardly placed throughout under Quinonez, who has won with 19% of his rides for the barn in the past 60 days.
Lone Star Park
Race 4
Trainer Pish wins with 17% of his runners second off a layoff and sends out #6 Miss Yachty (4-1), who made belated progress while unplaced over 5 1/2 furlongs here last month in her first start since September. Gray has won 1-of-3 career starts for Pish, who wins with 14% of his runners going from a sprint to a route. Filly can be in good early position with Luzzi retaining the mount.
