Holland's North American Free Racing Picks for Oct. 13

Tim Holland handicaps horse racing from Parx, Finger Lakes, Indiana Grand and Presque Isle today. Three of the tracks have a carryover to consider, read to find out more!

Parx

Race 3

Maidens include #4 Slam Bang (9-2), a debuting son of 13% first-out sire Sky Mesa, who is a half-brother to four winners. Gelding’s works include a solid 5-furlong move from the gate in 1:01 this month for trainer Flores-Coba, who has won with 19% of runners since the beginning of this year. 3-year-old may be ready to win at first asking under Laprida, who won with one of his last four rides for the barn.

Finger Lakes

Race 3

Lasix is added to #6 Morning Pleasure (3-1), who may have just needed her latest when fading to fourth after pressing the early pace in her first outing since debuting more than 13 months earlier. Daughter of Munnings is a half-sister to four winners and trainer Ferraro wins with 25% of his runners getting Lasix for the first time and with 21% second off a layoff. Bay can be in good position from the start with Gutierrez remaining aboard.

Indiana Grand

Race 7

#10 East Lex (8-1) rallied from off the pace to break his maiden over one-mile in his latest here last month in his first start for trainer Amoss and first outing since mid-July. Amoss wins with 16% of his runners that broke their maiden in their last start and son of City Zip is from an excellent female family. Chestnut can win again with Bridgmohan retaining the mount.

Presque Isle

Race 2

Trainer Brooks wins with 16% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and saddles #8 Only One Way Back (7-2), who weakened to finish fourth after leading early in his debut at Penn National in late-August. Gelding has been working well and Brooks wins with 18% of his second-time starters. He's also hitting at a 17% clip this meet. Son of Shanghai Bobby is likely the one to catch with Knott riding.
