Holland's North American free racing picks for Oct. 22

Handicapper Tim Holland has Thursday plays for Keeneland, Belmont Park, Indiana Grand, Laurel Park, and Woodbine.

Keeneland

Race 6

#8 Sabador (8-1) weakened to finish third after being involved early over a one-turn mile at Churchill last month in his third start after a long break. Gray finished a good fourth in the valuable Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket before joining trainer Murphy, who has won with 11% of his runners this year. Gelding can be forwardly placed from the start with Lanerie in the saddle.

Belmont Park

Race 6

Trainer Motion wins with 18% of his second-time starters and saddles #7 All American Dream (6-1), who made some belated progress when sixth in her debut over 6-furlongs here last month. Daughter of American Pharoah is out of a daughter of a Test (G1) winner, Dream Supreme, who is also the dam of Majestic Warrior, winner of the Hopeful (G1). Motion has won with three of his 14 runners at this meet and filly can show more here with Velazquez remaining aboard.

Laurel Park

Race 3

Maidens going 7-furlongs include #8 Dance for the Gold (7-2), who closed to narrowly miss when second over 6-furlongs at Delaware last month in her second outing. Trainer Duarte wins with 26% of his runners in maiden special weight events and daughter of Medaglia d’Oro is out of Dance to Bristol, who won the Ballerina (G1). Bay can be along from off the pace under Toledo, who has won with one of his last three rides for the barn.

Indiana Grand

Race 4

#11 Strut the Ring (8-1) rallied from off the pace to win his latest at this distance at Kentucky Downs early last month. Gelding has won six of his nine career starts on grass and trainer Shirer wins with 16% of his runners that won last time out and with 22% of his starters on turf. Consistent 8-year-old can be along late with Bridgmohan riding.

Woodbine

Race 4

Maidens on the Tapeta all-weather surface include #10 English Biscuit (12-1), who finished well when sixth in her debut over 5 1/2 furlongs here recently. Daughter of English Channel is a half-sister to one winner and trainer Smith has won with four of his 18 runners this meet. Filly can be along late with Wilson retaining the mount.
