Tim Holland has picks for Churchill Downs, Woodbine, Arlington Park, and Prairie Meadows on Friday.
Churchill Downs
Race 9
#5 Glory Road (12-1) likely needed his latest when flattening out to finish fourth over 6-furlongs at Ellis last month in his first start since winning his debut at Saratoga over a year earlier. Son of Commissioner makes his second start for trainer Stewart, who wins with 11% of his runners going a route for the first time. Gelding should be suited to this distance and gets Gaffalione in the irons.
Woodbine
Race 3
Maiden claimers include #3 Society’s Menace (6-1), a debuting son of 12% first out sire Society’s Chairman, who is a half-brother to two winners. Gelding’s works include a quick 3-furlong move in :35 from the gate a week ago for trainer Parente, who won with one of his last 12 first-time starters. Chestnut appears ready for a good first outing with Stein in the saddle.
Arlington Park
Race 4
Trainer Boyce wins with 18% of her runners third time off a layoff and saddles #3 Giacallure (10-1), who may have still needed his latest when unplaced over a mile last month in his second outing of the year. Boyce has won with 16% of her runners at this meet and gray has won 3-of-15 starts on this course. Son of Giacomo can be along from off the pace under Perez, who has won with two of his last 10 rides for the barn.
Race 6
Eoin Harty wins with 20% of his second-time starters and saddles #2 Javanica (5-1), who was green when fourth in an even effort in her debut over 5-furlongs here two weeks ago. Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro is a half-sister to Antoinette, who won the Saratoga Oaks Invitational, and Harty has won with three of his first 12 runners at this meet. Filly can be forwardly placed early with Loveberry taking the mount.
Prairie Meadows
Race 6
#5 Future Rocket (4-1) debuts for trainer Eikleberry, who has been winning with 31% of his first-time starters. Daughter of Paynter is a half-sister to a winner and has an impressive work-tab for Eikleberry, who has won with 18% of his runners since the beginning of this year.
