A value play at Indiana Grand is among the offerings Thursday from Tim Holland, who also has picks for Churchill Downs, Pimlico, Woodbine, and Remington Park.
Churchill Downs
Race 3
#7 Airstreem (7-2) has not raced since closing to finish fourth in his debut over 6-furlongs at Fair Grounds in December behind a next-out winner, Digital. Son of Tapit is a half-brother to Rachel Alexandra and has worked well for his first outing for trainer Danner, who wins with 14% of her runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Gray can be along from off the pace with Gaffalione riding.
Pimlico
Race 7
Sprinters on grass include #7 Fly the W (6-1), who was last seen when rallying from just off the pace to break his maiden over 5 1/2 furlongs at Colonial Downs in August, his first start since debuting more than a year earlier. Son of Ghostzapper is a half-brother to Caribou Club, who won the Seabiscuit (G2), and trainer Proctor wins with 29% of his runners that broke their maiden last time out. Gelding should find a solid pace to stalk under Pimentel, who won with his latest ride for the barn.
Indiana Grand
Race 6
Steve Asmussen wins with 21% of his second-time starters and saddles #7 Propose (10-1), who faded to finish unplaced in her debut after chasing the early leaders at this distance at Ellis last month. Asmussen wins with 21% of his runners overall in maiden special weight events and daughter of Into Mischief is out of Elope, who finished second in the Gallant Bloom (G2). Filly can show more under Achard, who has won with three of his last nine rides for Asmussen.
Woodbine
Race 6
#6 Sansa’s Vow (3-1) rallied from off the pace to break her maiden over the course and distance in her latest in June in her second outing. Daughter of Broken Vow is a full-sister to Prince of Wales S. winner Tone Broke and trainer Carroll wins with 17% of her runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Dark bay can be running late with Contreras retaining the mount.
Remington Park
Race 5
Maidens going 6-furlongs include #3 Paydiem (6-1), who debuts for 19% first-out trainer Danny Pish. Daughter of Carpe Diem is a half-sister to one winner and works include a sharp 5-furlong move in :59 1/5 from the gate two weeks ago for Pish, who has won with 21% of his runners at this meet. Filly appears ready for a good first outing with Doyle in the irons.
