Handicapper Tim Holland feels he has had a spotty couple of weeks, but can tout his picks of Thechromeweknow ($16.00) at Gulfstream Park on Sept. 13, Guildsman ($21.80) at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 16 and Count Again ($21.10) at Woodbine on Sept. 19. After 1135 races, Tim is showing a slight loss of -2.61%, but still holds onto his 526 races at odds of 5-1 or more, presenting a profit of 16.81%.
Today, Tim looks at Parx, Finger Lakes, Thistledown and Louisiana Downs.
Parx
Race 2
#5 Smarty Socks (9-2) was unable to make more than mild progress after trailing through slow early fractions on a soft turf at Delaware in her latest last month in her third start of the year. Daughter of 13% grass sire Smarty Jones has hit the board in one of two starts on turf for trainer Hendriks, who wins with 17% of his maiden claimers. Filly can be along from off the pace under Rodriguez, who has won with one of his last two rides for the barn.
Finger Lakes
Race 4
Jeremiah Englehart wins with 19% of his first-time starters and saddles #7 Spirit of Life (5-1), a debuting daughter of 17% first-out sire Tapiture out of a mare by Scat Daddy, whose offspring win 16% of their first outings. Chestnut has been working well and Englehart has won with 23% of his starters at this meet. 3-year-old can win at first asking under Worrie, who has won with 30% of his rides for the barn in the past 60 days.
Thistledown
Race 7
#6 Diamond Dust (6-1) has won two of six starts on this oval and comes off a fading sixth-place finish in the Honey Jay over the track and distance in early August in his second start after a short break. Trainer Hamm wins with 23% of his runners third time off a layoff and has won with 22% at this meet. Son of Paynter can be on or near the early lead with Correa riding.
Louisiana Downs
Race 2
Maidens on turf include #11 Linda Got Lucky (6-1), who showed improvement when on grass for the first time in her latest at Evangeline over 5 furlongs last month. Gray should appreciate the added distance being by Bernardini and out of a mare by Unbridled’s Song, and trainer Alonzo wins with 12% of his runners going a route for the first time. 3-year-old can be along from off the pace with Nieves in the saddle.
