Holland's North American Racing Plays for Oct. 30

A couple of plays from Churchill Downs, along with selections for Belmont Park, Laurel Park, and Penn National, are among the picks from handicapper Tim Holland on Friday.

Churchill Downs

Race 6

Maidens going 6 furlongs include #9 My Boy Gus (8-1), a debuting son of promising young sire Outwork and a half-brother to four winners. Works at Hawthorne include a sharp 5-furlong move from the gate in 1:00 3/5 this month for trainer Rosin, who has won with 24% of his runners this year. Gelding could have found easier company in Chicago and may be overlooked here with Beschizza in the irons.

Race 8

#6 Sir Alfred James (5-1) finished fourth in an even effort over 7 furlongs as the favorite at Keeneland earlier this month, but is unbeaten in two previous starts on this oval. Trainer Stall wins with 35% of his runners that were beaten as the favorite last time out and with 24% of his starters in allowance events. Son of Munnings can be in good position from the start with Hernandez retaining the mount.

Belmont Park

Race 9

Trainer Nicks wins with 16% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and saddles #10 Superfecto (8-1), who has not been seen since impressively breaking his maiden at Gulfstream in early-May. Son of excellent young sire Constitution is out of a mare by Ghostzapper, who is a daughter of Society Selection, winner of the Alabama (G1). 3-year-old has been working well and can be forwardly placed from the start with Saez taking the mount.

Laurel Park

Race 6

#2 Francatelli (7-2) won one of two previous starts on this main track and comes off a weakening fifth-place finish after showing early run in the Turf Sprint at Pimlico early this month. Trainer Lynch wins with 21% of runners going from turf to dirt and son of City Zip figures to be the one to catch with Rodriguez riding.

Penn National

Race 11

Trainer Salvaggio wins with 11% of his second-time starters and saddles #10 Found Out (10-1), who showed early speed before fading when fourth in her debut over the track and distance earlier this month. Dark bay has a speedy pedigree and posted a sharp 3-furlong work in :36 2/5 since her first outing for Salvaggio, who wins with 18% of his runners overall in maiden special weight events. Filly figures to be sent early with Conner remaining aboard.
