Hoosier Park Harness Pick of the Week for October 16

October 14th, 2019

Harness race of the week

An interesting field of nine fillies and mares will pace one mile in the 5TH Race at Hoosier Park on Wednesday. The non-winners of four/optional claiming affair is a wide-open test featuring a $6,000 purse and numerous win contenders. It is also the third race of the Pick 4 that starts in Race 3.

#6 BLUEBIRD CAMMIE (8-1) has run a pair of nice ones while second and third off the layoff, and the sophomore could peak third time back. The daughter of Always A Virgin needed a race two back after missing a few turns, and her third-place result most recently might have better than it appears on paper when stuck behind a sharp winner. The Indiana-bred filly will have Todd Warren in the sulky.

#4 QUEENS N TENS (3-1) is the one to beat coming off a nice runner-up performance behind an excellent winner at the level. Trained by Jace Sundeen, the four-year-old is winless in 2019 but has hit the board in five of her six most recent outings. The daughter of Net Ten Eom is hard to back with total confidence due to her mark this campaign, but she will be in the mix late in this spot with regular driver Michael Oosting back for more.

#1 MISTY SHOOTER (15-1) has exotics appeal at a big price for trainer Randy Hatton. The Sand Shooter filly is a two-time winner this season, and she comes in as fit as any lass in the cast while securing a fine inside post. The Indiana-bred sophomore will improve today and could be a major player at a big number late with Dale Hiteman in the bike.

#5 BEACH JOURNEY (6-1) has questionable current form but is eligible to turn things around in this affair with the barn change to Brandon Bates. The Net Ten Eom three-year-old didn’t run horribly on the course three races prior, and the sophomore has shown early interest in two recent performances in advance of this assignment. Matt Kreuger will be in the controls for the initial time.
