Hoosier Park Harness Race of the Week for July 17

July 16th, 2019

The 10TH Race at Hoosier Park on Wednesday is a non-winners of four event for fillies and mares that attracted a nice field of 10 chasing a $7,000 purse. The pacing event looks like a great betting race and it kicks off the late Pick 5 (Race 10-through-14) and offers a guaranteed $20,000 trifecta pool. Don’t forget to get your GAIT INSURANCE before the Race of the Week! Your $5 WIN BET will be refunded if your horse breaks stride and loses the race! HELEN’S GIRL (#10) (12-1) was assigned a tough starting post but shows improving form and must be considered a serious contender in the affair. The three-year-old daughter of Straight Shooting got off to a slow start in 2019 in her first three assignments, but the Florida-bred has turned things around in a big way since. Trained by Wiliam Crone, the bay was a smart winner two prior and finished a creditable third with similar last time out. Trace Tetrick will drive the upset chance. ROCK FLUSH (#6) (3-1) brings top form to the field with consecutive wins to her credit and the Rockin Image filly possesses big speed. She uses her main weapon to put away foes away early and the sophomore has recorded all but one of her wins on this oval. Sam Widger will be in the bike. THAT’S A BINGO (#4) (9-2) made two moves when second-best in a similar spot recently. The Alvin Miller trainee sped to the front early, relaxed in third to the top of the stretch and came again under the wire, posting a :28 ⅖ final quarter-mile. Sophomore filly by Shadyshark Hanover has won or placed in four straight, and the Indiana-bred is a must use with Peter Wrenn in the sulky. Sneaky contender SKYWAY ATHENA (#5) (6-1) was a nine-time winner in 2018 who might be coming back into form. The Don Eash charge has placed in two of her last three, and the move to put Lewayne Miller in the controls last time was a wise one. Four-year-old daughter of Rockin Image showed a nice turn or foot three back when rallying into a swift pace and could sit a similar trip against this field today.
