#8 SAVAGE SEELSTER (8-1) is the value in the field for trainer Ryan Bellamy. The nine-year-old had a fine 2018 campaign when banking more than $100,000, and the Ontario-bred is already a dual winner at this young meeting in advance of today. Son of Camluck never fired with open handicap runners most recently, though his win on the course two back could make him the one to beat if he repeats that performance. Michael Oosting will be in the sulky.
#2 PRIMO GIOVANNI (5-2) comes off a fine second-place showing in a mostly similar spot last time out and rates as a live contender. The bay gelding hails from the powerhouse stable of Ron Burke, and he got his final quarter mile in a sharp :26 and change in his return to Hoosier. Son of Big Bad John will be running from off the pace behind a lively pace beneath Ricky Macomber Jr.
#7 EVERGREEN ELITE (5-1) is a consistent late runner who might sit a very good trip in this run for Brandon Bates. Seven-year-old gelding put in a fine closing kick when second here two back prior to a seventh-place finish last time out in a dull showing. Ken Rucker pupil will need to be at his best to topple this talented field, but I think the bay could be up to the task with the expected pace duel to run at late.
