Seven 3-year-old fillies will travel one-mile on the green in Saturday’s $100,000 Autumn Miss (G3) at Santa Anita.
Autumn Miss Analysis
#2 Quiet Secretary will be sent from the start to take command early on. #3 Nasty will track the tempo from second and the pace will be honest.
Autumn Miss Contenders
#1 MIND OUT -- Callaghan trainee stretches out following a productive fourth in a dash on the local lawn most recently. Tapit filly has knocked on the door in a few stakes races in her lifetime and could be set for an upset in her third outing since May. Van Dyke will guide the chestnut.
#2 QUIET SECRETARY -- Speedster will set sail for the early advantage under Victor Espinoza. Hard Spun filly has shown huge improvement since routing on the green in her last pair, and she could hang around for a share with another forward move in the Autumn Miss.
#3 NASTY -- Interesting sort makes her debut since being transferred to the Baltas shedrow. Street Sense filly has shown a big turn of foot versus lesser, and she figures to get a very nice trip just off the early pace in her California debut. Kentucky-bred win threat will have Gonzalez in the controls.
#4 GUITTY -- Battle-tested filly has knocked heads with stakes foes in seven straight, including four in succession with graded company. Dark bay sophomore from the Powell barn is a one-run closer in a field without a slew of pace, and she may not get the early tempo she needs to upset this cast on Saturday. Juan Hernandez has the call.
#5 WARREN’S SHOWTIME -- Consistently good Golden State-bred led late before finishing a fine third in the recent Del Mar Oaks (G1). Clubhouse Ride filly sports a superb 4-3-0-1 mark on the local lawn, and her top effort will make her tough to upend under top turf pilot Flavien Prat.
#6 GOING TO VEGAS -- Second from the always dangerous Baltas barn will have blinkers removed for the Autumn Miss. Goldencents 3-year-old makes her stakes debut off of a pair of solid allowance runs at Del Mar, and she could be in the hunt for a placing late with improvement beneath Gutierrez.
#7 CROUGHAVOUKE -- Prime win contender broke through with a win when adding blinkers for the initial time last out. Jeff Mullins pupil has a fine turn of foot, and the Dandy Man filly will be difficult to keep out of the equation with her best effort. Umberto Rispoli will be in the silks.
