A compact, but ultra-talented, field of six sophomore fillies will face off in Friday’s $100,000 Beaumont (G3) at Keeneland.
Beaumont Analysis
A trio of fillies will be forcing a swift early tempo in the Beaumont. #2 Speech, #3 Four Graces, and #4 Wicked Whisper will all be running early on, with the latter possibly being the quickest of the trio.
Beaumont Contenders
#1 SLAM DUNK -- Grade 1-placed filly from the Brisset barn draws inside for her second assignment of 2020. $450,000 Into Mischief filly didn’t inspire in her first offering of the season, and she faces a tall task in a strong field on Friday. Luis Saez has the call.
#2 SPEECH -- McCarthy pupil has been runner-up in four straight, with the last pair coming against the top-two 3-year-old fillies in training. Bay daughter of Mr. Speaker has been consistently good since her maiden win in December, and she could potentially receive a perfect trip just off a pair of dueling leaders in the Beaumont. Javier Castellano will be up.
#3 FOUR GRACES -- Top pick has caught the eye in two straight tallies at Churchill Downs at the distance. Dark bay Kentucky-bred from the barn of Ian Wilkes possesses early speed and a closing kick, as well. Julien Leparoux has the assignment atop the Majesticperfection lass.
#4 WICKED WHISPER -- Frizette (G1) queen makes her seasonal debut following an unplaced effort in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Asmussen trainee got two morning drills over the surface in anticipation of her return, and she could be the one to catch while coming in fresh beneath Rosario.
#5 SCONSIN -- Include filly from the Foley barn was an excellent allowance victress most recently when drawing off late beneath the Twin Spires. Bay lands in a tough spot for her stakes bow, but she could be one to watch inside the final furlong if she improves off of her latest performance. James Graham will be atop the late runner.
#6 TURTLE TRAX -- Second from the Wilkes barn finished a solid runner-up in an allowance prep for this affair. Cairo Prince filly broke her maiden in style on the surface, and she is another who would benefit from a swift and contested early tempo. Contender picks up Brian Hernandez Jr. for the voyage.
