Falls City Stakes contenders and odds:
#1 MOONLIT GARDEN (8-1) -- Brad Cox trainee was a superb winner of the Iowa Distaff four back, and the bay missed by a neck in the Locust Grove (G3) on this course two prior. Five-year-old by Malibu Moon will be saving ground throughout from the rail under Geroux.
#2 GRANDARIA (20-1) -- Brendan Walsh charge seeks her initial stakes win in the field and comes off a nice allowance tally at Keeneland. Curlin filly was a maiden winner in a lone local voyage and has improved her BRIS Speed figure in three straight outings. Ricardo Santana Jr. rides the improving sort.
#3 MYLADY CURLIN (7-2) -- Grade 3 heroine has been consistently excellent as one of two in the field for Cox. Bay filly was a smart runner-up in the local Chilukki (G3) last time, and she has won or placed in three of her four local tries overall. Tyler Gaffalione will be in the stirrups.
#4 VEVINA (15-1) -- Phil D’Amato pupil has been unplaced in three races in succession in preparation of her dirt debut. Daughter of More Than Ready could be any kind from off the pace with Martin Garcia up.
#5 OVER THINKING (20-1) -- Overanalyze filly comes off the lawn to the dirt today, but her current form makes her hard to back with confidence. Four-year-old will be doing her best work in the stretch beneath Jon Court.
#6 SALLY’S CURLIN (3-1) -- Surging chestnut from the Romans barn has won three in a row and four-of-five, including a visually impressive coup in the Chilukki most recently. Prime win candidate has picked up a trio of local wins, and any improvement off of her latest will make her tough to deny in the latter stages today. Corey Lanerie has the call.
#7 PRINCESS CAUSEWAY (10-1) -- Wilkes charge was a sharp allowance winner at seven panels at Churchill Downs last time out and will contend in the affair with another move forward. Giant’s Causeway filly faces elders, but the sophomore has the ability to run with this kind. Chris Landeros will be in the silks.
#8 RATAJKOWSKI (7-2) -- New York invader rides in on a three-race win streak for Brian Lynch and will be the pacesetter in the cast. Five-year-old chestnut has never finished out of the money in her lifetime, and the Empire State-bred will have Leparoux riding for her initial run with open company.
#9 GO GOGGLE YOURSELF (3-1) -- Hard-trying daughter of Into Mischief held on late to defeat the top selection in the Locust Grove most recently. Paul McGee trainee has won or placed six times at Churchill Downs, and she wouldn’t be a surprise despite drawing widest in the field. The filly will force the pace with Brian Hernandez Jr. in the controls.
