June 24th, 2020

A standout field of seven will run 1 ⅛ miles at Churchill Downs on Saturday in the $200,000 Fleur de Lis (G2). The Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” affair marks the much anticipated return of the sensational Midnight Bisou.

Fleur de Lis Analysis

#4 Serengeti Empress is the clear pace of the field and will be rolling along up front for Amoss. #1 Go Google Yourself, #5 Midnight Bisou, and #7 Motion Emotion will be in the next flight.

Fleur de lis Contenders

#1 GO GOOGLE YOURSELF -- Multiple Grade 3 heroine has won or placed in seven of nine local engagements, including a tally in the Locust Grove (G3) in September. Mostly consistent Into Mischief mare tired late in the recent Apple Blossom (G1) at Oaklawn after traveling wide throughout, but she gets a cozy rail draw on this occasion. Brain Hernandez Jr. will guide the exotics contender.

#2 ANOTHER BROAD -- Pletcher pupil is winless in her last eight, hitting the board in just three of those outings. One-run closer didn’t offer much in a local prep and can’t be endorsed in the Fleur de Lis despite her expert connections.

#3 CHOCOLATE KISSES -- Dangerous Casse trainee finished runner-up to the ultra-talented Dunbar Road on the surface in her second 2020 performance. Candy Ride lass could grab a minor award with improvement off of her most recent effort beneath Declan Carroll.

#4 SERENGETI EMPRESS -- Reigning Kentucky Oaks (G1) starlet is the one to catch in the cast. Fleet Alternation filly is especially dangerous when she has early control, and it appears that she will dictate things from the start under Talamo on Saturday. Kentucky-bred wouldn’t be a major surprise.

#5 MIDNIGHT BISOU -- Champion mare makes her first run following a tremendous second-place result in the inaugural $20 million Saudi Cup in February. Consistently great daughter of Midnight Lute was a strong third in the 2018 Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) in her latest try beneath the Twin Spires, and the 5-year-old has not missed a morning workout in advance of her comeback. Regular pilot Mike Smith comes in to ride the superstar.

#6 RED DANE -- LoPresti trainee is winless since 2018, and she also sports an 0-for-6 mark at Churchill Downs. Red Rocks mare was an encouraging second in a local allowance last time out, but she looks overmatched in this spot.

#7 MOTION EMOTION -- Daughter of Take Charge Lady has improved in each of her trio of assignments this campaign for Baltas. Bay filly has some early foot to gain position early, and if she moves forward once again, she could grab a share with Leparoux in the silks.
