How to bet the Valley View Stakes
The Friday feature at Keeneland will see 12 sophomore fillies travel 1 1/16 miles on the turf in the $150,000 Valley View (G3).
Valley View Analysis
The pace figures to be strong in the Valley View. There will be early action inside from #1 Duopoly and #2 In Good Spirits, as well as from the outside with #9 Sugar Fix and #12 Antoinette.
Valley View Contenders
#1 DUOPOLY (9-2) -- Chad Brown charge comes in with wins in two straight and will be a pace presence from the opening bell. Animal Kingdom filly is lightly raced with a lot of room for improvement, and she could be dangerous late if Gaffalione gives her a sensible trip.
#2 IN GOOD SPIRITS (8-1) -- Speedy sort from the Al Stall shedrow was a winner in her lone local appearance in advance of Friday. Daughter of Ghostzapper has been run down in the lane in her last three, but she is consistent and wouldn’t be a total surprise with Miguel Mena in the silks.
#3 PRINCESS GRACE (15-1) -- Dark bay daughter of Karakonite is two-for-two but gets a real class test in the Valley View. Kentucky-bred might need more seasoning before excelling at this level for Stidham.
#4 WALK IN MARRAKESH (10-1) -- Grade-1 placed Irish-bred was a nose second in the Appalchian (G2) on the course in July for Correas. Chestnut daughter of Siyouni is still winless this campaign, but she could be backed for the gimmicks at a square price on Friday.
#5 WITEZ (8-1) -- Lake George (G3) third is Grade-2 placed in her lone prior engagement at Keeneland for Wilkes. More Than Ready filly has been mostly consistent on the lawn in her career, but the barn is ice cold at the meeting, and she is tough to back for the win on Friday.
#6 HOW IRONIC (30-1) -- Tonalist filly was a sharp allowance winner over first-level allowance foes two back, but she has yet to prove that she’s capable of being effective with this kind. The one-run closer will pick up some pieces in the lane with Bejarano in the stirrups.
#7 PRANKED (20-1) -- Interesting sort has shown improvement since moving to the lawn in December for Amoss. Stakes-placed Into Mischief filly has a versatile running style and will be well positioned at the top of the lane with Cohen in the controls.
#8 LUCKY BETTY (12-1) -- Exotics threat has put in a pair of positive performances since switching to the green, led by a third in the Edgewood (G3) most recently. Talented Munnings filly has a solid turn of foot, and she will be aided by a pace that is expected to be contested. Declan Cannon will ride the longshot contender.
#9 SUGAR FIX (8-1) -- Treasure Beach sophomore has won six of her last seven turf races for Joseph. Fleet filly showed a new dimension when rating and kicking clear in a victory at Kentucky Downs last time out, and she has to get respect for her fine grassy form. Adam Beschizza has the call.
#10 OUTBURST (20-1) -- Upset pick had a fine prep with a closing fourth when sprinting in the Music City S. at Kentucky Downs last out, and I think that she will thrive in her Keeneland debut on Friday. Outstrip import has shown improvement in 2020, and I envision her making another forward move third time off the shelf. Florent Geroux riding is always a positive thing.
#11 STUNNING SKY (7-2) -- Potential one to beat from the Maker shedrow cuts back following a pair of extended trips as of late, and I think that she will be moving best of all late in the Valley View. Daughter of Declaration of War will be dead fit with eight races under her belt this campaign, and she will receive a nice pace set up, as well. Santana inherits the mount.
#12 ANTOINETTE (3-1) -- Saratoga Oaks Invitational S. heroine exits a nice runner-up showing in the Belmont Oaks (G1) for Mott. Hard Spun filly has won or placed in eight straight overall, with the last seven coming in the stakes ranks, and her best effort will give her every chance inside the final furlong. Drawing widest makes this a difficult assignment, however, and I will try to beat her at small odds.
