How to play the Canterbury Humpday Showdown

Wednesdays replace Sundays on the Canterbury Park calendar in August, and TwinSpires.com will be offering the Humpday Showvivor on every Wednesday program at the Shakopee, Minnesota, course.
Opt in and place a Show wager of exactly $5 on a single horse or entry (only your first Show wager counts in each race). Cash on at least five (5) bets and win or split $250. Cash on at least five (5) Show wagers in a row and win or split an additional $500.
With the emphasis being on cashing tickets to be eligible for the splits, there is certainly no shame in applying your $5 on the occasional low-priced stickouts during the course of the contest, if they figure and you're so inclined. Here are some horses to consider for the first day of August:
Race 3
#5 MUSICAL AMERICA is perhaps sitting on his best race in his third race back from a long layoff. Third last time to repeat winner Hotfoot in a non-statebred allowance, he's run commendably at this level on tougher circuits, and has posted two bullet works since his last run.
Race 4
Morning line favorite #4 R H SMOAKEM takes a crucial drop in class from maiden special weight company and switches back to grass, over which he ran a strong second at Turf Paradise in his only previous attempt.
Race 7
#4 CINCO STAR has shown some talent in two starts to date. Faces more experienced foes in this first allowance test, but could get involved late with the right pace setup.
Race 8
#1 SERYY was not competitive on the turf in his last couple of starts, but drops in for a tag, returns to dirt and shortens up. Encouraging second to a repeat winner at the special weight level in his last dirt attempt, albeit against a short field.
Good luck!
