Jordan's Henny No Secret in Inside Information Stakes

Two months ago, a four-year-old filly named Jordan’s Henny shocked the racing world with a 59-1 upset in the Hurricane Bertie Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park.

Suffice to say, the secret is out now and Jordan’s Henny won’t be anywhere near that price when she lines up to contest Saturday’s $200,000 Inside Information Stakes (gr. II) at Gulfstream. Held at the same seven-furlong distance as the Hurricane Bertie, the Inside Information has attracted a field of seven fillies and mares, with Jordan’s Henny now looming as the probable favorite.

Trained by Michael Tomlinson, the daughter of Henny Hughes has never finished out of the trifecta in four starts at Gulfstream Park and placed in a couple of graded stakes races over the track last winter, the highlight of a three-year-old season that also saw her compete in the prestigious Kentucky Oaks (gr. I). Thanks to her signature victory in the Hurricane Bertie, Jordan’s Henny seems to have found her niche as a sprinter and will try to build on her momentum in the Inside Information. A couple of Jordan’s Henny’s rivals from the Hurricane Bertie are back again, those being the third-place finisher Rich Mommy (winner of the Grade 3 Sugar Swirl Stakes at Gulfstream two starts back) and the fourth-place finisher Moonlit Promise (a two-time graded stakes winner over the synthetic Tapeta track at Woodbine last year). Moonlit Promise in particular could be a threat to rebound, for she made an early bid for the lead into a hot pace in the Hurricane Bertie and led past the eighth pole before tiring to finish just three lengths behind Jordan’s Henny.

Just Be Kind, winner of the six-furlong Minaret Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs last month, will attempt to stretch out another furlong while stepping up in class for trainer Reade Baker. Ivy Bell, a stakes winner at Mountaineer, rarely finishes out of the top three and finished a strong second in the seven-furlong Chicago Handicap (gr. III) at Churchill last summer, demonstrating her ability to compete at this class and distance. Blue Collar, winner of a one-mile allowance race at Churchill last fall, and Mines and Magic, fourth in the Madison Stakes (gr. I) going seven furlongs at Keeneland in the spring of 2017, complete the lineup.

The Inside Information is the eleventh race on Gulfstream’s Saturday card and has a projected post time of 5:04 p.m Eastern.
