Picks and Plays
Turf Paradise: Race 2: $30,000 Maiden Optional Claiming (5 1/2 furlongs, 2:47 p.m. ET)
#3 Boss Bride (2-1) ran strongly when debuting against males in the Arizona Downs Juvenile S., carving out the pace before weakening to finish second by three-quarters of a length. The winner, Arizona Andrew, had previously won the Las Vegas Ranch S. and subsequently nabbed the Gold Rush Futurity.
Two months after the Arizona Downs Juvenile, Boss Bride tackled a $30,000 maiden optional claimer sprinting five furlongs against fellow fillies at Turf Paradise. Again she carved out the pace (setting quick fractions of :21.86 and :45.27) before weakening to finish third by one length.
Boss Bride will stick to the same class level on Tuesday and is meeting a field without any other definite speed horses. Unless one of the first-time starters bursts out of the gate running, Boss Bride figures to secure an easy lead and cruise to victory.
We’ll play the race accordingly, betting Boss Bride on top of exacta and trifecta tickets.
Selections
- #3 Boss Bride (2-1)
- #6 Scatalicious (3-1)
- #2 Classic Taste (7-2)
Wagers
- $5 Exacta: 3 with 2,6 ($10)
- $2.50 Trifecta: 3 with 2,6 with 2,4,6 ($10)
Total: $20
Parx Racing: Race 9: Future Stars Filly Division S. (six furlongs, 3:31 p.m. ET)
#9 Girl Trouble (2-1) hasn’t missed the trifecta in five starts and crushed her opposition in a $75,000 allowance optional claimer at Parx last month, pressing the pace over a muddy track before pulling clear with ease to win by eight lengths.
That massive victory produced an 87 Brisnet Speed rating, the highest figure in the Future Stars Filly Division S. field by nine points. A repeat can send Girl Trouble to the winner’s circle for hot trainer Robert E. Reid Jr., a 23% winner at Parx who has gone 8-for-15 (53%) teaming up with jockey Paco Lopez over the last two months.
While horses are the most important factor in handicapping any race, many bettors look toward jockey statistics to strengthen their opinions and separate top contenders.@J_Keelerman helps you understand rider stats 👇 https://t.co/asGyQ1e0YO

Flashy maiden winners #6 Mendelian (4-1) and #7 Gold Medal Anna (9-2) can battle for second place.
Selections
- #9 Girl Trouble (2-1)
- #6 Mendelian (4-1)
- #7 Gold Medal Anna (9-2)
Wagers
- $15 Exacta: 9 with 6,7 ($30)
Parx Racing: Race 10: Pennsylvania Nursery S. (seven furlongs, 3:58 p.m. ET)
#2 Ninetyprcentmaddie (7-2) is undefeated in three starts, all at Parx. The Robert Reid trainee won his debut by a nose, beat Pennsylvania-bred rivals by 3 1/2 lengths in the Whistle Pig S., and then trounced non-state-restricted rivals by 7 1/2 lengths in a $75,000 allowance optional claimer.
Ninetyprcentmaddie brings competitive Brisnet Speed ratings to the table and figures to fire a strong shot while returning to the Pennsylvania-bred ranks. The similarly undefeated stakes winner #7 Gordian Knot (3-1), runaway maiden winner #12 Winning Time (4-1), and former claimer #4 Picture This (9-2) are formidable challengers, but at 7-2, Ninetyprcentmaddie is worth betting to win and keying on top in the exacta and trifecta.
Selections
- #2 Ninetyprcentmaddie (7-2)
- #7 Gordian Knot (3-1)
- #12 Winning Time (4-1)
Wagers
- $10 Exacta: 2 with 7,12 ($20)
- $2.50 Trifecta: 2 with 7,12 with 4,7,12 ($10)
Total: $30
Good luck!
