RACE 4

Todd Pletcher’s BOURBON IN MAY (#9) (3-1) looks to be well-spotted in a big field in his debut try. The son of fine turf influence More Than Ready has trained well at Palm Beach Downs and should fire in this spot. Pletcher’s barn has been very good at this meeting with an eight-for-17 mark, and the trainer pairing with Jose Ortiz is winning at a 40 percent rate as of late.

Bourbon in May is out of a dam who was a first-out winner and a subsequent heroine in a turf sprint stakes. The dark bay colt also has speed to his inside and should get a nice journey to the winners’ circle.

RACE 5

READY AND RICH (#9) (4-1) is not my typical horse in terms of wagering. The Super Saver colt has run second on five occasions from six starts, with narrow defeats in three straight. However, it is not for a lack of trying and I like him in this spot.

The Ignacio Correas trainee was reeled in by a Steven Asmussen trainee named Limonite, who was exiting a key race when third at Saratoga on debut.

With the presence of So Alive (#6) (2-1), who is a half-brother to Wood Memorial (G2) hero Vino Rosso, as well as Wesley Ward’s second-time starter Tapizars Secret (#7) (5-2), we will get a decent price on the selection.

RACE 7

ENGLISH BEE (#8) (5-1) showed no speed, never switched leads and earned just a 69 BRIS Speed figure in winning his debut. Nonetheless, the English Channel colt was tons the best in a last-to-first romp at Presque Isle Downs. It’s a race replay worth watching.

The Graham Motion pupil didn’t beat a great field, though the runner-up out of it has won two straight since, including a wire-to-wire tally at Keeneland on October 14 with $40,000 claiming foes. This interesting prospect gets Lasix and switches to the turf here as a play under Chris Landeros.

RACE 10

SMART SHOT (#1A) (4-1) has been outrun with stakes competition in two straight going longer, including a demanding 1 5/16-mile endeavor at Kentucky Downs last out. The Rusty Arnold trainee faces a more reasonable cast in here with a cut back in distance in this spot. She looks like a good “get-out horse” to me and you get some insurance with her stablemate, too.
