Changes on the Leaderboard
The rapidly-improving mudlark Gold Street joined the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with his victory in the Smarty Jones S. on Friday at Oaklawn Park. Having secured 10 qualification points, he currently sits 12th in the standings.
Gold Street’s stablemates Shoplifted (12 points, 4th place) and Silver Prospector (11 points, 6th place) also made modest jumps up the leaderboard after finishing third and fourth in the Smarty Jones. Runner-up Three Technique earned four points in his stakes debut, placing him 24th on the leaderboard.

As Seen On Tv: The Mucho Macho Man S. winner turned in a stamina-building work on Thursday at Palm Meadows, cruising 6 furlongs in 1:15.

Honor A. P.: Exciting maiden winner is back on the Santa Anita work tab after a brief setback, breezing 4 furlongs in :51.40 on Sunday.
Independence Hall: Unbeaten Jerome S. winner clocked 5 furlongs in a bullet 1:00 on Sunday at Tampa Bay Downs.
Green Light Go: Champagne (G1) runner-up completed his preparations for the Feb. 1 Swale (G3) at Gulfstream by breezing 5 furlongs in 1:00.35 on Saturday at Palm Meadows.
Gouverneur Morris: Breeders’ Futurity (G1) runner-up took a big step along the comeback trail when he clocked 5 furlongs in 1:00.85 on Sunday at Palm Beach Downs.
Shotski: Remsen (G2) winner breezed 5 furlongs in 1:02 on Friday at Laurel, keeping him on track for a start in the Feb. 1 Withers (G3) at Aqueduct.

Structor: Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner posted his first workout of the year on Saturday, going 3 furlongs in :37.20 at Palm Meadows.
Thousand Words: Aiming for a start in the Feb. 1 Robert B. Lewis (G3), Thousand Words worked a half-mile in :48.20 on Monday at Santa Anita.
Tiz the Law: Runaway Champagne (G1) winner clocked 4 furlongs in a bullet :48 on Sunday at Palm Meadows, his final breeze before the Feb. 1 Holy Bull (G3) at Gulfstream.
Looking Ahead
The Road to the Kentucky Derby gets serious next week with three major prep races scheduled for Feb. 1. The Withers at Aqueduct, the Holy Bull at Gulfstream, and the Robert B. Lewis at Santa Anita will attract some of the most prominent early names on the Derby trail, including Shotski, Thousand Words, and Tiz the Law. Expect to see some major changes to the leaderboard.
